Updates on the new anime!

Slowly, very slowly but surely we are getting tiny bits of info about the new Sailor Moon anime. This is exactly what I expected them to do, to ration the announcements into tiny drops of sweet sweet honeydew hope.

UPDATE!  We have an name and first look! Just a week before the official debut at AnimeJapan expo on Tokyo this past March, a backwards counter with a note that said "Coming soon!" was uploaded to the Official Sailor Moon website. However, some very dedicated and excited Moonies were able to decipher the hidden URL of an image revealing the new name and official look of the 2014 anime! Sailor Moon Crystal! And we have both logos in English and Japanese!

We also have a date. Not an exact one, just a month: JULY 2014. Great, right? That hasn't changed! That's good. And now, the next good thing we have are names! Names of producers, directors and creative talents who will be giving life to our beloved Usagi.  Here is the official list (so far):

Original Story: Naoko Takeuchi
Director: Munehisa Sakai (@munehisa_sakai)
Producer: AtsushiMinoru Umezawa (@A2104Ume
Series Composition: Yuji Kobayashi (@kobayuji
Character Design: Yukie Sakou (@sakouyukie)
Art Director: Takashi Kurahashi, Yumi Hosaka
Music: Yasuharu Takanashi
Music Production: King Records
Animation Production: Toei Animation (@toeianime_info)
OP Theme: Momoiro Clover Z
Airing on: NicoNico Douga (@niconicoen)

While this list doesn't seem too exciting, there are two people here that should stand out on your radar: The character designer and the music composer. Needless to say, Yukie Sakou will have one of the heaviest responsibilities in the series, because her designs will determine the look of our beloved characters through the new series and merchandise. Strangely enough, even though she has worked in a bunch of different animes as animator, this is the first time she has ever been a character designer. A quick search in Google.jp showed a set of chara designs she made for a previous project and from the looks of it, we will have a very good-liking Mamo-chan! Hopefully the charas DO resemble these sketches because gosh golly darn hawtness!! 8D

Yukie Sakou's previous character designs. This is NOT Sailor Moon.

The second person of interest is Yasuharu Takanashi, the music composer. Sailor Moon has some pretty epic themes and gorgeous score throughout its five seasons, so not only does the character design have to be up to par with the original, but the background themes and soundtrack have to leave an memorable impression as well. Here is a compilation of songs he created for the Fairytail anime. this particular composition is very Irish, but he definitely has the talent to deliver a great score for Sailor Moon.

Unfortunately we still don't have any previews of what the anime will look like. Every tiny bit of info brings in great expectations, but maaaaan do we want it to be July already. C'MON TOEI! Give us previews already!!! XD!
