Sailor Moon Star Locket.

Hi Moonies! I have a few updates for you but I want to adress the Star Locket necklace, or its formal name: Usagi's Carillion (because it's not really a locket). Every fan knows what the Star locket is and what it represents. I'm going to quote Sakky:

"It's not a transformation compact, it's not a wand. It's not even specifically magical in its own right (though I can see how you could debate that). It's just a really pretty, really awesome little symbol. AND WE LOVE IT."

We absolutely do love it. Most might say, we're a wee bit obsessed about it. The toy versions of the locket had a limited run in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and parts of Europe. The US or Americas never got an official release of this toy, yet everybody seems to know about its existence and has become one of the most sought after collectibles. Most fans wants this toy and are willing to drop some serious  money in order to get it. Any version! Of course the one made in Japan is the Holy Grail for Moonie connoisseurs.

I've blogged, tweeted and podcasted a lot about GE Animation and the line of products they are putting out as a revival for the series. Lots of these products can now be found a Hot Topic and Anime shops and conventions. They announced the production of a Star Locket WAY BACK in March and we had to wait for months and months for its release. Sadly this necklace does not open or play music, and I know many of us were hoping for that, but it's ony a replica of the toy. This is a small pendant so I'm not surprised it doesn't play, althought yes, they could've made an opening hatch. Oh well.

In the first days of September, the locket finally came out for sale and Moonies are receiving their pre-orders! WOOOOHOO! Two awesome collectors and close friends Sailor Astera and Ochibawolf  have already made their reviews for you to read and feast your eyes with loverly pics of this highly desired item. Overall, they're cute, chunky and shinny. Very pretty for everyday use or as a prop for fan movies and such.

So yes, Moonies. It is available for purchase now and it is easy to find it. However, I feel quite shocked and disappointed that only a few days after we had the release, there are already being auctioned off on eBay. I don't mind eBay sellers who place the items on "Buy it Now" at reasonable retail prices because some shops sell through the site, but when they're placed for auction or way overpriced, it's not cool. Trying to get more money for it when it's still widely available is NOT COOL. Clearly they are trying to take advantage of the passion Moonies feel for this item.

SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE IS $15 DOLLARS.
(+ S&H + tax)

Two, three dollars, give or take, but Moonies, DO NOT overpay for this locket. There are plenty of places to acquire a Star Carillion, even if you live overseas. That's right. Moonies outside the US! You CAN buy the locket at retail price and they WILL send it to you (although fees might be higher).
Here is a list of retailers that carry the official GE Animation merchandise. Not all are the locket yet, but it will eventually arrive at all shops:

*I know some Moonies have had negative experiences with Animewild on Amazon,
but I've also heard some lockets HAVE arrived to their owners already, they're slow,
they're bad at customer service, but prices are still within range.

Anyway. Take care of yourselves Moonies! Out there be MONSTERS D:
Thank you to Sakky for the locket pic! :D!
